Feeling cheated

In Nov 2021, after dealing with an oil leak on our 2011 Ford Escape, we decided to take it to Liberty Ford in Canton Oh, thinking they could figure it out where others couldn't. They said it was a faulty crankshaft seal and it would cost a little over $700 to fix it.

We said go ahead. Got it home and shortly thereafter it started leaking again. They fixed it again, no charge. Got it home and it still leaked.

This time they said it was the oil pan and it would cost another $734 to replace it. We said ok. Got it home and it still leaked. This time they said it didn't seal properly so they redid that.

Still leaked. Took it back in, this time they said it was the timing cover gasket, and it would cost another $1900 to fix that. I told them screw that, I'm not like the government, I can't just pull money out of my butt any time I want. We are retired and on a fixed income, and can't afford to pay for them to play process of elimination.

The reason we took it to them in the first place, was we thought they were professionals.

Boy were we wrong. Needless to say they'll never get another dime from us and we'll never buy another Ford product.

Phone Harrassment

In late August, I made the mistake of clicking the "contact us" button on the website to inquire about a vehicle. I did not purchase a vehicle from this dealership.

Clearly they are having an issue unloading their inventory as they will not stop calling me!! I have blocked at least 20 numbers from this dealership and they still keep coming. It is extremely annoying and so frustrating. I have talked to a live person many times and asked to be removed from whatever list it is that they have put my number on.

If you are car shopping and are considering this dealership, I recommend calling them or going there to talk face to face. Do not make the same mistake that I did.

I purchased a Chrysler PT cruiser in 2008.Had no issues, only when oil changes were due. I was told that I could have them done anywhere, just had to show that they were done. So I did. They said I forfieghted the warranty. Second vehicle, a 2012 Jeep Liberty. Same issue. Missed an appointment for oil change due to surgery, a snow storm and the death of my brother. Had documents for proof. Even spoke with the owner. They would not honor the warranty. Received a letter in the mail about a class action suit, they are to honor all warranties.

Fraud

I had financed a car from Liberty Ford that included Gap Insurance and an Extended Warranty. When I made an inquiry with their Finance Department about my Extended Warranty paperwork, I was told that I don’t have an Extended Warranty and Gap Insurance.

They also told me that my payment, according to their computer system, is $60 less than what I have been paying. My buyers contract matches the copy that the Finance Company has, which indicates that I have Both. I have spoken with several individuals at this dealership and each one refused to do anything about this other than tell me that they are new employees and we’re not involved in this deal. The last person I spoke with told me,” give me a call in a few weeks”.

Perhaps she too is anticipating a new job by then. I have reported this issue to the Authorities.

Liberty Ford - Customer Care Review

Went to Liberty Ford in Randallstown, had all the documents they needed, even went online and printed out paperwork they requested. Purchased a 2012 Chrysler 200, drove off the lot and was pleased. Next day they requested something else took it to them, and the next day they told my husband that I needed to come back in I forgot to sign something, got there they told us we had to return the car, because I was out on disability and they didnt finance people on disability, because they said I might not get that income for long. That was back in 2013 and ill be getting that and more for the rest of my life. Sorry Liberty Ford you lost out.

Your title says "work experience" but you didn't actually work there. As far as financing, they have no way of knowing how long someone will receive disability so it's not a risk they are willing to take. I doubt they feel they "lost out".

Attempting to receive an Inspection Certificate

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am a very disgruntled customer, due to the manner in which I am being treated, by the sales representative who serviced me, on June 11, 2016, with the purchase of my vehicle. On August 10, 2016, I put in a request to obtain the Inspection Certificate for the automobile I had purchase, as proof to the vehicle being inspected. As it stands, today, which is August 16,2016, I have yet to receive the certificate, that should have been provided at the completion of the sale of the automobile, along with the customer's proof of purchase paperwork. I was told that I would receive a call, when the Inspection Certificate was ready for pick-up. I had not heard anything from the sales representative and I was in the area, so I stopped into the office. The sales representative spoke to me in a very demeaning manner, in front of two customers they were serving and this helped to refrain myself to responding to this disrespect, in a negative manner. For days, I received no correspondence, even after I called and left messages and voice mail messages for the appropriate sales representative. After no response for five days, I went into the office and I was told by the sales representative "the certificate has to come from another building and those responsible for supplying the certificate were angry with them and this could be the reason for this dastardly delay. The sales representative, also stated they had been giving the Inspection Certificate to their customers, because of Uber requesting to see the aforementioned certificate, as proof of being inspected." Now, I stated to my sales representative, "if this is the case, why was the Inspection Certificate not provided to me, at the completion of my automobile sale." I did not get a response from the sales representative nor the General Manager at the location (9311 Liberty RD), who witnessed and heard the exchange between my sales representative and I, but did nothing to intercede in resolving the matter in any way, shape, or form. I am greatly disappointed in the manner, in which I have been treated concerning my receiving the Inspection Certificate for the vehicle I have purchased. Both, the sales representative and the general manager displayed a morbid nonchalant attitude towards me, as though this issue is of no importance. I must declare, if I have not received the Inspection Certificate for my purchased vehicle, by week's end, I will have no other recourse, but to take other measures to have this matter resolved. Thank you, Terence T. White

Liberty Ford Work Experience Review from Gwynn Oak, Maryland

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I actually worked at Liberty Ford. Very few of the salesmen are honest people who actually want to assist customers. The owner and sales managers are all liars who steal from the poor to give to the rich. I no longer wanted to represent a company that would seek out those who needed the most and rob them blind. I watched many people come from all parts of MD and even other states, just to find out they would leave empty handed. Some of the salesmen would even joke after receiving information about people who planned to come into the dealership saying "there's no way they can buy but...I'll sit and talk to them to make it look like I'm actually working to the managers and owner". I was absolutely disgusted! DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE! TURN YOUR CAR AROUND AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!!

FALSE MISLEADING ADVERTISEMENTS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went online looking for a pick up truck. I have not so good credit and saw the $5000 guaranteed trade in. I took my expedition up there Ken the salesman ran my credit and then told me I needed a cosigner. I had one and they then told me the price of the vehicle included the $5000 trade in and all incentives/rebates, PLUS I needed to pay $1200 for tires and $2000 for Md inspection......WHAT???? For a truck that is way over Kelly Bluebook. I called to talk to the general manager who listened to me for 3 minutes before switching me back to Ken.........It took them 20 minutes to tell me that I did not qualify for anything on their lot when their commercial says they will finance anybody.

Liberty Ford's Advertisements are really misleading.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Liberty Ford is currently advertising that they will give $5000 for any trade in and they advertise that any someone with poor credit can get a loan to purchase a vehicle. When I arrive the salesmen told me that I should have read the fine print.

He said that they aren't offering $5000 to everyone trading in a vehicle only customers that qualified to purchase certain vehicles. Next, I was informed that I didn't qualify for that offer and that I should just give my vehicle back to my car lien holder so that I can buy one from them. I told him that my car lien holder didn't want my car, they wanted my car payments and he told me to turn it in to them in lieu of having it repossessed. In other words, make my credit worse so that I can pay for one of their over priced vehicles.

Next I was informed that the vehicle that interested me was going to require a payment that was significantly higher than I was interested in paying. When I asked why he quoted me some prices that were way higher than the published blue book value for the vehicles. When I told him that the blue book value for those vehicles were much lower he told me that they didn't use the blue book values, they used the black book values. Lastly, the low light of the visit was when the salesmen that was speaking to me went to the desk where the receptionist was sitting and then she exclaimed, loud enough to be heard on the outside of the show room, " That's ridiculous.

Can't nobody get no four wheel drive vehicle for $250 month. You must be crazy!" It made me question the professionalism of the entire establishment.

False advertisement

I was called in by a man name sean I told him my situation with my credit, he said he could help and since I filled out an app with a finance company instead of the liberty ford app I was guaranteed to get approved according to him, well let's just say they waisted 30 minutes of my time, asking me for a cosigner and in all honesty if I had a consigner I would not be purchasing a vehicle from them, and he also asked for around 8,000 down on a car, seriously don't advertise that you can help people with bad credit if you really only targeting people with middle credit. It's false advertising to me and I would not do business with them. Funny thing is they are always sending me offers so when my credit does get back up to par, don't bother sending me offers since y'all couldn't help me at my lowest. This dealership is foolish

Leased a car & now won't take back early

When I leased this in 2012, they said when i got close to going over miles to come see them & they would work with me to get me into something else, I have contacted them several times & the only thing they will offer is to buy the car or buy a brand new car. I wanted to buy a used car with $ down & they said I would have to give them around $4000 or more to take the car back, they didn't explain the leasing part well when I initially leased but made me feel like it would be easy to bring back early. They also didn't let me know i was taking a loss on my trade-in until the end of the day & everyone was in a hurry to leave & again they made it sound like when i turned car back in, that they would work it out. I won't buy or lease with them again.

One big rip off

Updated by user Jun 06, 2013

My daughter is still dealing with Liberty Ford. She is working with a woman from BBB but the whole situation is screwed up.

will update again soon.

if anyone can help or give advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Original review Apr 30, 2013
My daughter purchased a Nissan Altima 2010 from Liberty Ford of Randallstown Maryland in November of 2012 and about a month after she bought the car she started having problems with it. It when from back windows not going up, lights on her dashboard that could not have been on, flat tire, radio not working. I called the owner Ed Gelin and he told me to tell her if she had problems with the car just bring it back and trade it in and get another car because he wanted her to be happy, but what he did not say was she would have to do another application, credit check and everything that came with buying car for the first time. How in the *** did that help her? somebody please tell me. The gentlemen that was working with her just pissed me off. The one name Steve Knowles was just nasty and rude. and the other guy name Robert never came out and talked to me or my daughter about what was going on we were treated like we did not matter. but I will not stop until my daughter gets her justice because this is wrong on so many levels she only had the car for 6 months. I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE ANYONE LOOKING FOR A CAR NOT TO GO TO LIBERTY FORD IN RANDALLSTOWN MARYLAND. THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUCKS.
